*Pound Cake is not Available for 4", 6" 1 or 2 layer, or 8" 1 layer
The smallest batch of Pound Cake I can make is 6" 3-layer, to ensure the batter is properly leavened.
Since Pound Cake is leavened by air, as opposed to raising agents like baking soda or powder, there needs to be enough batter in the mixer for the paddle to catch and beat in the air. Otherwise, it'll be dense and unfortunately not very good.
*4" Heart Cakes are only available in 3-layer, and 6" are only available in 2 and 3 layer
Because that's the smallest batch I can make.
